Emotional Eating

You’re constantly grabbing the ice cream or the cookies or the chips when you’re sad or stressed or frustrated or angry.

You know you’re emotional eating… but you don’t know how to stop.

The thing with food is it brings up emotion inside of us.

It feels good, it brings up good memories… it is emotional.

So of course you turn to food to feel better when you’re not.

And also, I know you don’t want to eat like this anymore. You don’t want to keep overeating because you’re angry, stressed, frustrated, etc.

What I want you to hear is #1 it makes sense that you turn to food.

And also… food will NEVER fill the space you need filled with hard emotions. It does not fully meet our emotional needs.

This is why you overeat when you eat because of your emotions. You’re looking to food to be your main way of coping. You’re looking to food to distract you. You’re hoping the food will help you push down the hard emotions so you don’t have to feel them.

So the way to stop emotionally eating is this…

Feel your feelings.

I know… it’s maybe not what you want to hear. But it’s essential that you stop resisting hard emotions. This is the key to stopping emotional eating.

This is what I’m going to help you do in this week’s podcast episode.
